Guide

Care at home. Less of it, in the right place.

Most mistakes in hair care have to do with the amount and with the place, hardly ever with the product. Four steps that change that.

Top and bottom

Shampoo belongs at the roots, care in the lengths.

Dirt and sebum sit on the scalp, so that is where you wash. The lengths get enough of it while you rinse. Massaging shampoo into the ends dries out exactly the part that can take it least.

The same holds the other way round: conditioner and treatment belong from about ear height downwards. At the roots they make the hair heavy and the scalp greasy sooner.

  • Shampoo: on the scalp, with your fingertips
  • Conditioner and treatment: from ear height down
  • Rinse thoroughly, rather longer than shorter
  • Finish with a cooler rinse

The amount

A hazelnut goes further than the bottle suggests.

Too much product either rinses away unused or stays in the hair and settles on it like a film. The hair then looks dull, and the reflex is to use even more care.

Start small and add more if you need it. With long hair, add more water rather than more product, and it spreads by itself.

  • Start small, add more if needed
  • Spread it in your hands before it goes into the hair
  • Stretch it with water instead of more product
  • Dull hair rarely means too little care

What for what

Three questions in the salon, before we reach for the shelf.

We look at hair and scalp before we recommend anything. Someone who colours or works a lot with heat needs something different from someone whose scalp should calm down. That is why there is no standard recommendation with us, but a conversation of a few minutes. It costs nothing and needs no appointment.

  • After colour and heat: the collection for the lengths
  • For the scalp: the collection that calms
  • For fine hair: build up lightly, weigh down less

Frequently asked

What guests ask us at the basin.

Do I need shampoo and conditioner from the same collection?

You do not have to. It often makes sense, because the parts are matched to one another. What matters more is that both suit your scalp and your lengths, and those are sometimes two different answers.

How often should I use a treatment?

That depends on your hair and on what it has been through lately. There is no fixed number that fits everyone. Tell us in the salon how you wash, and we will give you a rhythm.

My hair feels weighed down. Too little care?

Usually the opposite. Too much product, or rinsing for too short a time, leaves a film on the hair. Reduce the amount and rinse for longer before you buy anything new.

Can I get a recommendation without an appointment?

Yes. Come by during opening hours, we will look at your hair and tell you what suits it. It costs nothing. The address and the hours are on the contact page.

Can I order the products online?

Yes, in the Aveda Shop on eddine.ch, with delivery or collection in the salon. Which care carries you is still best seen on the hair itself: the hair consultation gives a first direction, and in the salon we advise you in person.
